5Great Tent
By L. Mitts
My husband and I were able to set the tent up easily. The second day of camping it started to sprinkle , then during the night and early morning it poured. We didn't have one drop of water in our tent. It was wonderful after priorexperiences with two different tents. (Indoor pools in our tent) There are two panels you can hang to divide the space. My kids each had their own room on the ends. We liked the little mesh panel for the ceiling used for a small cargo hold. Highly recommended!

4Great tent for the price
By A 30-something
This is our first large tent purchase and I bought it because after reading tons of ratings on other tents, this is the one that, for the price, seemed to be as waterproof as advertised based on user ratings. It's easier to set up than you would think. I'm a 5'7", 130-lb woman and set it up by myself. The instructions are attached to the inside of the bag next to the zipper (as they always are on Coleman tents with zipper bags). It took about 30 minutes because attaching the guylines takes a little while, as does finding spots to drive the stakes w/o hitting rocks. Once the guylines are attached, you don't have to do it again. The most frustrating part was raising the center poles by myself. They are very long and really could use 4 hands instead of 2, but after fiddling with them just right I got them up in 10 minutes or so. With 2 hands, they tend to just fall over and make S shapes instead of dome shapes due to their length vs. strength. But like I said, I got them up. The sides poles are easy. The poles are color-coded (per the instructions) with red or grey stickers, but after you set the tent up once, you can tell which poles are which w/o needing the color coding. The side poles are thinner than the center dome poles. Our poles were not red and grey like the poles in the picture on this website. They were all black. The inside of the tent is very roomy and attractive, with some gold accents on the white areas of the tent. I like the white - it adds a very current look to the tent. The room dividers come detatched, and attach with loops. The zipper on the only door to the tent is doing fine so far, but on all of our older Coleman D-door dome tents the zippers have eventually broken after a few years, so we'll see with this one. I'm surprised Coleman hasn't changed their door design. I also don't like how the door has a 4-inch lip in front of it that you have to step over when going in and out. I wish they'd lower the door to almost ground level. It would also make it easier to sweep out.I also don't like the rain fly. In the picture, the fly is away from the tent all the way around, but when you set it up, there are 4 symmetrical spots where the fly touches the body of the tent. I haven't tested this tent in rain yet, but the fly should never touch the tent. We fiddled with the fly off and on for a couple of days and was never able to raise the fly off the tent in any of these 4 spots. I also think that due to the size of the tent, a rain fly should come down closer to the ground instead of stopping midway down the tent. So I hope this tent is really as waterproof as people say. Also, the tent didn't come with the little yellow hammer advertised on the package. But that's ok, because for less than $2 you can get a rubber mallet at any major retailer in the camping section, and rubber mallets work tons better than little plastic hammers.Make note of how they pack it, because you'll need to simulate that when packing up. Always use your tent poles to tightly roll the tent towards the door, otherwise you'll never get the bag zipped. The poles will give you a good gauge on how wide your roll should be and also help you roll tight. The instructions give you NO guidance on how to pack it back up.You won't need a tarp. All modern tents have a bottom already made out of waterproof tarp material, and the tarp habit stems from back when they weren't, so don't bother.Overall, for the price, if you want a large, roomy tent, this is a good deal. You can get a Coleman for the price of an Ozark Trail (which leak like a seive).UPDATE: We've been *poured* on 3 weekends this summer, and the only drop of water in the tent was from the bottoms of our shoes. It is indeed as waterproof as people say despite my doubts about the seemingly insufficient rain fly. We haven't needed to use any seam-seal or spray of any kind. If yours leaks, something is dreadfully wrong and you should contact Coleman.UPDATE #2 (6/2011): Our shock cords inside the poles have started to snap. The poles can support the tent just fine without the cords once the poles are laced in and the tent is raised, but it's a pain to deal with these long poles without them before the tent is raised. I'll be ordering replacement shock cord and repairing the poles instead of junking the tent because the tent itself is still going strong. We were in two incredibly strong thunderstorms in the Ozarks last year (tree branches were coming down) and still no leaks!

4Sturdy summer tent
By G. Scott
This is a nice, spacious SUMMER tent. Don't even think about using it if its spring/fall and the temperatures might drop, but its fantastic in hot weather, rain or not. Also this isn't a tent for windy conditions due to its high profile. I can set this tent up alone, although getting the rain fly over the top can be a bit tricky on my own, it does eventually get there. I hadn't thought about how tough it would be for 65" tall me to get a rain fly over the 78" top of a 10x17' tent! I bought this tent for summer camping when rain was a likely complication, when I am NOT packing it more than a few yards from the vehicle. (It is a heavy tent.) It holds a table, chairs, cot, gear, and dog quite comfortably and is ridiculously spacious when I am camping alone. When a group is camping and the weather goes wet, it becomes a great place for people to get together out of the rain and have coffee, play cards, etc. I do think the "cool port" thing is about the dumbest looking thing I have ever seen on a tent though...it looks like either a demented dog door or I'm expecting the little people to join me. The "mud mat" is also rather dorky. Being three room is kind of stretching it, but the curtains are useful for changing clothes when there is a mixed group together.Minuses on this tent: it has a single d-door with a single zipper pull, which starts on the bottom. It has huge mesh sections in the ceiling over the ends, and there isn't any way to close them off. It lacks extra tie down points on the rain fly for foul weather when the wind kicks up a bit, which means its inclined to really start popping in a gust. There are not very many stake points on the tent itself either, which also help in foul weather. This is a very decent budget tent for summer use.

2Do Not Take in a Wind Storm!
By S. Osburn
I bought this tent specifically for a week-long scout camp. The simple design lent itself for putting this big tent up in just a few minutes. The tent has all the features I was looking for in a tent: size, design, weight, looks, simplicity, packability, etc. We put four scouts in it and fit them and a week's worth of junk perfectly with plenty of room to spare. The boys loved how roomy it was and that they could stand up in it. We had nice weather for the first two days. But then the wind started blowing. We made sure every single tie down was firmly in place and the entire tent was staked. The rain fly tore at the edge after about twenty minutes of wind. One of the main thick fiberglass poles broke in two and the jagged edges ripped through the tent and right through the rain fly. One of the side fiberglass poles also snapped in two. Fortunately this happened at noon instead of midnight and luckily we had two backup tents in which to put the boys. We had several different brands of tents set up and this is the only one that had difficulty in the wind. This tent needs stronger poles and better designed rope tighteners as these kept coming loose in the wind. The brand new tent lasted all of two days of use.

4This tent is HUGE
By thescreaming
This tent was a lot bigger than I expected it to be, which is a good thing. It is very roomy, so if you have a lot of people (or just a lot of stuff), this will work great. There is enough room for multiple adults to stand up straight without hitting their heads on the ceiling. Despite the fact that it is so big, it is very easy to set up (I set it up on my own, with no help). My only complaint is that the air circulation is rather poor. The windows are rather small compared to the size of the tent, so unless you have the rain fly off, it is very stuffy.

5This = Big + Awesome - Expensive
By G. Allen
We were looking for something a step up from the tiny 4 (felt like 2) person tent that we had and came across this Wenzel. The price is certainly decent and we decided to get it and try it out. We've set it up a few times and taken it on one camping trip and here are our thoughts thus far.Pros:-Huge! This thing dwarfs other tents and will surely make others jealous! We filled it with a queen size air mattress, a baby's pack-and-play, a camp chair, a ton of gear, and still only covered half the floor space and had plenty of room to walk around. You will easily forget you are sleeping in a tent. Do not underestimate the size of this thing, it is really, really big.-Easy to set up. Just four main poles and a very straightforward rain-fly.-Convenient. Not too heavy and folds back into its back without too much difficulty.-Inexpensive-Light-rain proof. Haven't tried it in a real storm but kept a light rain/dew off.Cons:-Definitely requires staking on the sides. Not sure how it would hold up if you had really loose soil or sand.-Not a cold weather tent by any means. All in all, we were very pleased. Just two of us had no problem setting it up in <15 minutes and didn't find any defects in stitching, quality, etc.

Product Description

From the built-in lighting system, to the screened porch, to the hinged door and Auto-Roll window design, to Coleman's WeatherTec system guaranteed to keep out wind and rain, the Coleman Elite Weathermaster 6 Screened Tent is packed with features for comfort and convenience at the campsite. The tent sleeps 6 people comfortably in 2 rooms, with a footprint of 17'x9' and a center height of 6'8". The hinged door swings open and closed; it includes a rigid pole frame support structure that is easy to install and take down. The 2nd door zips closed securely. The integrated LED lighting system provides a bright, useful light -- enough to read by at night -- with 3 settings (High, Low, and Nightlight). Coleman's Comfort System allows control of airflow with vented Cool-Air Port/Cooler Port, privacy vent window, interior gear pocket and electrical access port. Color-coded 19mm steel and 6.3mm fiberglass poles, continuous pole sleeves plus InstaClip attachments and an exclusive pin-and-ring design assure quick and easy setup even for beginners. Coleman's new Auto-Roll Window lets you instantly roll windows up, partially up to your liking, or all the way down, to suit your privacy or ventilation preference. "Negative-angle" windows allow the window to be partially or fully open during a mild rain: a primary structural pole creates an overhang to protect the window and provide ventilation and viewing during an afternoon shower or gentle nighttime rain.

5Great Tent
By Jesse B Bartholomew
Note: This is a photocopy of the same review I gave on another site, going to try and post more of the pictures that I wasn't able to on that site here. This has to be the best tent that I have had the opportunity to own. I own or have access to Coleman, Wenzel and various other brand tents but only Coleman tents seem to last the best for this class. Heck my last Coleman is now 25-30 years old and it is still usable, though it is now on the small side as that was the tent I grew up in. As for class I mean Family/Car camping tents.Simple setup and take down. Took only half an hour to put up by myself, only needed a little help with the rainfly. As a side note though I do have to say that users may need to ignore the instructions to raise the poles up to the high or third hole after raising the tent up. At first setup mine was tight enough as it was. Rainfly coverage was excellent, but if there is a high wind and rain, the middle section may have some rain coming in from the screen on the top, the one that is a skylight without the rainfly on. No floor in the screened in area, but thats no big for me. Screens themselves are not no-see-um mesh so keep that in mind. A common comment on last years model was that the tent acted like a wind sock due the the fact the back section had no screen. This years model does have a screen window on the high side of the rear section. Just like the other windows this one can also be zipped shut. Self rolling windows are an interesting idea, though they took me down memory lane and the snap bracelets of the early nineties, mostly cause they function exactly the same way. The biggest difference is that these are not covered in fabric as the bracelets were, so when putting these in only an adult should do it. The supposed injuries due to the bracelets can also occur here but possibly more easily. If you can handle a 1" wide metal tape measure without a problem though I reckon you should be fine. Sleeping accommodations are a little relative, for me I feel this tent can sleep two or three comfortably, with cots or air-beds, a cooler and a chuck-box. If you just want to sleep in it the stated sleeping area is about right, but be prepared for waking everyone up if you have to get up in the middle of the night. Now the most important part, for me at least, Waterproofness. Can't say how it will handle in a real rainstorm but I will tell you this, it held up good to the settings on my garden hose, with a friend standing inside. To give you an idea what settings I used, one was a fan setting (this puts out an arch that about 90 degrees on a flat plain, I like it cause it creates fairly realistic water droplets at a fairly low pressure). The other was a needle setting (this does just what is says creates a needle of water about the diameter of a wide grip pen, its high pressure). The fan one I used on the sides and the roof at a distance of about 6 feet from the tent for about 2 minutes on each section. Had no leaking issues other that the issue mentioned above were water came in through the middle section on top. Rain-fly worked great as well. The latter I used on the seams. For about thirty seconds to a minute I sprayed each seam to see if any leaks showed up, I thought something had to show up with this setting. To my amazement nothing did. So other than some rain coming in over the middle section there really wasn't an issue. All in all this is a great all around tent, and in my opinion stays true to the Coleman name. Only time will tell if it holds up to my old Coleman.Edit as of July 28th 2009: After taking this tent out camping in the Black Hills of South Dakota I have a few things to add to the review. First I was out there for five nights and on each of those nights it rained. For the sake of honesty one leak did pop up and that was in the rear room at the base of the two large windows where the spring ends. Outside of that it performed flawlessly. We even had a few strong wind gusts that would have toppled my old dome tent. One of these rainstorms was strong enough that a mountain not 200-300 yards away could not be seen from the screen room. Also, all this was accomplished using only the original Coleman waterproofing. I haven't had to put any on myself yet. Another note dealing with the poles after all that rain I did find some rust on the poles as I was storing them after striking camp. However, for me I consider this normal wear and tear.

3Initial construction flaws aside, it's a nice tent.
By L. Poland
For this review, I'm not really sure where to begin. It's a long one, so a cup of coffee may be in order.I needed a new tent to replace a dome tent (7'x9' Coleman) that we've had for 11 years. After careful consideration and much research, I went with the Coleman Elite WeatherMaster 6.(As a note, the screened area does NOT have a tub floor, and the lighting system uses an LED bulb.)This tents first trip out was into the middle of nowhere, set up in a field as a base camp for hunting. I was on my own, and couldn't have been looking more forward to the solitude for 10 days. When the tent arrived, I did an initial setup and seam seal. No real issues, and the tent went up without a hitch... sans one issue.***** ***** *****Issue #1: The internal light fixture (which is LED, off a 4 D-cell battery pack) did not work. Whether it is the bulb or the fixture, I cannot say. The switch, which is on door side of the tent, glowed as it should so power was making it from the battery pack through the fixture and to the switch.***** ***** *****The tent was carefully taken down, packed up and ready for its first trip.I made it to camp with about 2 hours of daylight left. Plenty of time, right? Sans a little wind (20-25, with slightly higher gusts) everything was fine. I selected a nice level spot, and staked out my tarp. Once the tarp was down, I staked out the tent corners, keeping the narrow enclosed (bedroom) end into the wind (south), and put the poles together. Another hand would have been nice, but it was manageable. The poles easily went into place, and I started to raise them and secure into the loops. With 2 of the 4 pole assemblies up, and working on the 3rd, a big gust of wind came up and presented issue #2.***** ***** *****Issue #2: Both corner stakeout loops on the same end (enclosed "bedroom" end) ripped right off of the tent in a wind gust, which also ended up bending 2 individual poles.***** ***** *****Aside: Before anyone says it, yes the tent was staked out correctly and securely. In hindsight, I believe it was a one in a million chance (with the combination of poles up) that lead to a perfect situation.Having no other options, I gathered my wits and got things back into place with some weight on the corners while I surveyed the damage. Finding 2 poles that were bent (both were leg poles, bent right where the natural bend is which fits into the cross poles on top), I did the best I could to return them to their initial degree of bend as the sun was setting fast.I worked quickly to rearrange the poles, so that the non-bent poles were on the windy (south) end of the tent.Prior to giving it a second go, something had to be done about the loss of corner strength. I made a quick call to place a case of water in one corner, and my dutch oven in the other so I could get the tent raised. This worked, although the wind was still fairly decent. The tent went up the second time without issue, although the damaged poles created a bit of an issue yet to be seen.Once fully up, and fully staked out, it was time for the fly to go on, and none too soon. The fly went on fine, initially. As I secured the straps and cords, from south to north, I began to notice a problem. With the poles bent, it created just enough unevenness with the top to make the fly slightly off kilter. It was pulled to one end (the screened area) more than the other (by about 2-3"), as well as to what would have been the northwest corner by a couple of inches.Trying to massage it for about 15 minutes proved unsuccessful, so I just went with what it gave me.I staked out the fly, and then doubled the stakeout points with my own cord. (Para cord... awesome stuff.)Once fully staked down, even in what was 25-30mph with gusts to 35mph or so, the tent was stable and I added a little more weight to each corner which had the stakeout loops come off. Surprisingly, while not the tightest method of securing it, it did work out as well as one could hope.***** ***** *****With the above 2 issues, I believe them to be more quality control related. I don't believe the loops were sewn well enough, thus causing their separation from the tent and hardly leaving and trace on the tent itself. The dome light also seems to have been an issue for a few other people.Coleman will be honoring their warranty, and while naturally I was disappointed, sometimes things happen. They shouldn't, but on occasion they do.***** ***** *****So enough of the bad stuff. Let's get on to what saves this review from being a 1 or 2 star. The wind didn't let up for the better part of the next 5 days. Several times I was really, really nervous after what had happened during setup. I maybe should have turned the tent around after that, but it just didn't seem logical to put the screened room into the wind with the flat inner "wall" into the tent. This tent held up well during those 5 days, although it would make a little noise (more than would be expected) but I think most of the flapping was from it not having the proper tension due to the missing corner stakes keeping it completely taut. The extra lines out also helped without a doubt.I did get a little rain, but not too much more than a decent shower. However, I still managed to stay dry. The fly DID leak, however that was a result from it being off kilter because of the poles. Thankfully that part was positioned over the screened area, and was only from the fly touching the top. Had it been correctly seated, it would not have leaked.***** ***** *****Spaciousness...***** ***** *****This tent is big, but not overly so. I did not have the two inner rooms divided, and around my queen air mattress I had about 18 inches of room. I had the head of the bed about 6" from the screened-in area "wall", and the same from the back "wall" opposite the door. Granted, I had more gear inside the tent and in the way then I planned. Even still, it was pretty decent. Had I been able to better utilize the space, I'm sure it could have been a little more roomy. My initial plan was to have the air mattress across the tent on the one end, with space to sit and move in the middle.Since it was just me, it didn't really matter.***** ***** *****In summary...***** ***** *****Initially, while trying to piece together my plan of attack when the loops separated, all I could think about was returning the tent and getting the Cougar Flats II.It was the performance, even in a damaged state, which turned me around on it and saved this review. To be honest, it really is a decent tent. Had the loops been sewn properly and not come off, this would easily be a much higher rated review. Had my experience and knowledge been less, I may have been much more upset about it. You would think that when you're only an hour away from a companies headquarters, that their product would be well suited. In general, it was. It held its ground through much worse than what ripped the loops off. It was just that right gust at just the right time that did it. What are the odds? The key to success in the wind, upon looking back, was certainly the extra lines staking it down. That seems like common sense though, at least to me. If one is well prepared, any issue can be adapted to and overcome.I was really surprised at how well it did end up performing, even in the wind of the great plains. I will admit that I should have been out longer. With severe storms in the forecast, as well as 45-50mph sustained winds with gusts to 60+ for a day and a half, I made the smart call and struck camp. The storms didn't hit, but the wind was ferocious. I'm glad I wasn't out in it.

5My little condo
By R. Scoggins
A condo, that's what our new tent feels like. Loved the screened porch, the light system and hindged door. We have teased everyone that we bought a new condo. Oh, I almost forgot about the roll-up windows. Took my girlfriend camping for the first time with this tent and I thought the extra features would help to settle her in to camping life and I was right. No fighting during set-up either. We took a few moments to lay out the poles and wow...set-up was a breeze. Everything fit nicely back in the bag too. If you are looking for a camping experience with a few extras, this is the tent for you.

5great tent!
By Denise Booth
This is a great tent and very easy to set up - 15min by myself. We camped for a week and experienced sun, rain and wind. this tent stayed dry and anchored. I did use 10 in. metal stakes instead of the ones that came with the tent. I especially like the fact that the screened porch has a floor. Tent was well ventilated and roomy. We had a queen and a single mattress and 2 coolers inside. Still had room to walk and change clothes. Glad I purchased this tent!

5Really nice for the money
By Shawn Gallagan
This tent worked great when we recently used it during a weekend of camping. I went back and forth between several different tent models, but ultimately decided that the rain fly looked to have better coverage on this model.Setup is relatively quick and took about 15 minutes. It could be done by one person, but two people would be optimal. The screened in area was more useful than I thought it would be. We basically used it as a mud room and it helped in keeping dirt and debris out of the sleeping area. With my family of four, there was plenty of room for two queen size air mattresses with space left over to store other items. There are two small pockets on each side of the tent to store small items and a small strap in the top-center of the tent to hold a light, fan, or whatever you can fit up there. The ventilation was quite good and we stayed cool with ~75F nights. It rained a small amount on both nights and we stayed completely dry.Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase.

5I'm Impressed
By Eric Juden
Wow, I just bought this tent (not from amazon) a couple weeks ago and set it up to waterproof it. I had a Coleman 10x10 for probably 8 years and love Coleman products. We were needing something bigger to fit our growing family. I really liked the screened in area on the front of it; it has a ton of room in there. The inside looks about the same size as my 10x10, I guess it's probably 12x12 and the screened in section is probably 3x12.It was well worth the money.

4Finally, a rainfly... What vestibule?
By C. R. Joy
Yes, after a lot of customer feedback Coleman finally decided to release a rainfly for their Instant Tent line. As seen in my pictures above it comes in a similar pouch and it has the same tie-down lines and pin-style stakes as the tents themselves. As of this writing I have yet to find any information on this item from Coleman themselves. Most of what I read before purchasing my Instant Tent 6 was on the FJ Cruiser Forum at [...], and the Expedition Portal forum at [...].The rainfly itself is pretty much what you expect, a very tight weave of poly fabric with double-stitched seams, and it should work well. Considering all the Instant Tent reviews talking about leaking this should have been an available accessory from the very beginning, and if Coleman's smart about it they should start including it with the purchase of a new tent. A rainfly not only helps keep you dry when it rains, it also provides the air gap that becomes an extra bit of insulation in winter and summer. Since the fly has no venting it will retain some of the warmth leaking out the top of the tent in cold weather. In my neck of the woods it also provides some extra shade in the summertime. The two main reasons I gave this item 4 stars and not 5?..1. What vestibule? I realize the product description comes from Coleman, the manufacturer, and not from Amazon. That said, Amazon needs to amend it and take the manufacturer to task for the incorrectness. I pre-ordered this product even though no one had seen it yet and there were no pictures anywhere on the internet. I am happy that I have a rainfly for a tent that I enjoy using, but when the description clearly states "...The Rainfly also instantly creates a spacious vestibule outside -- perfect for stowing shoes and other gear...", then that is what you expect to get for your money. A look at the picture of the pouch shows Coleman's own image of the entry door to the tent with the fly on top of the tent. There is clearly no extra coverage over the entry door...2. The description also clearly states that you can 'comfortably' open the windows when it's raining, yet the fly just covers the top couple of inches on those huge tent windows. Personally, if I'm going to have to spend extra to get a rainfly it should be worth the time and $$ and not just a specially shaped tarp (though most are). The fly should extend far enough down to get the windows at least half-open, and there should be spring-tension rods to give the fly shape and keep it rigid where it is away from the tent. Basically this would give the fly little 'awnings' for each window like those commmonly seen on roof top tents (see pictures here for reference - [...]).So in the end we finally get a rainfly for the Instant Tents, but that's all it is, so don't tell us it does more than that, Coleman.

3Well, it did keep the rain out...
By E. Buthmann
I bought this last year in March for what was then an upcoming camping trip where we were expecting some rain and wind. I must say it worked wonders for keeping the rain out of my tent. However, the heat that myself and the one other person in the tent let off caused a massive amount of condensation to form inside. I have used the tent before and since, with no such outcome. With the fly on, I could not ventilate enough and still keep us dry from the rain. I don't know how we would have fared without the fly in the rain. But, I do know that we that it didn't allow any moisture to enter. So, in that respect it failed. Had there not been as much wind that night i may have been able to open the windows of the tent a little more without the fear of water entering. Maybe I will give it another try on a less windy/rainy night. As for the ease of use with this fly...it is one of the easiest I have ever used. No fiddling with tension rods to create vestibules and whatnot. I simply though it over the top of the tent and clipped it on. I was able to do it on my own (along with the pitching the tent itself as my camping partner was "too busy" messing around the campground to help me). Anyway, back to the point, it kept rain out, moisture in, and was easy to use. User be warned, you may have a similar experience or not, you won't know unless you try.

4Why don't they include this with the tent?
By R. Merikle
Took one star off for not being included with the tent. It works well and does what it is suppose to. Also wish there was a better way to store this with the tent. If you are expecting rain then get this with your tent.

5Great value
By Jason Russell
I ordered two day shipping, but the tent was on my doorstep in less than 24 hours! I had my brother time me and it only took me 2 minutes to set this tent up, stakes and rainfly included. There was a little condensation on the inside of the tent in the morning, but that is every tent. It rained all night one night, a light rain, not a monsoon or thunderstorm-type rain, and there were no leaks, and no water inside the tent. Don't know how it would hold up in more extreme rain. Great tent for the price.

5great tent for the price
By johnny rodriguez
I just got back from a 5 day camping trip up in Cairo NY and my girl friend and I used this tent which I just ordered from amazon. It took about 8 min to set up, it is a decent size for two may be 3 people but not for 4. I wouldn't want to be crammed with 4 people in this tent unless it was 20 degrees and I needed the warmth. I also changed the steaks out for better ones because it had those metal peg stakes which cut threw the ground when pressure is applyed to them.other than that its a great tent and held up great for a five day trip with two people and about 100 pounds of cloths and gear, and it only took me about 5 min to take it down and rolled it up. The only one complaint is this tent does not come with a bag for the tent, so a garbage bad is what I'm using for now

4Perfect for kids
By Janna Jennings
My 7 year old bought this tent with his own money. He loves it. It is small enough that he can set it up in our game room. It is simple enough that he can set it up by himself in about 10 minutes or less. It is great for kids playing in the backyard as well. We have not gone camping in it, so can't say how it will perform for sleeping or in windy or rainy conditions. It only has 4 stakes to stake it down. It is thin and very light weight. Perfect for our needs, but might not be what you want if you are serious about camping.

5Good tent.
By DS
I bought this for our annual June cub scout camp out in the park (i.e. not exactly extreme camping). The tent was easy for my 8 year old son and I to set up together and very roomy for the two of us (I can see how it could easily fit 4 if needed, though it was a nice size for 2 with plenty of room for stuff). It rained most of the night with thunder and lightning, but we made it through completely dry. The rain cover worked great and still provided plenty of ventilation. There are not a lot of rope tie-downs for kids (and adults) to trip over which was nice (just 2 for the rain cover and none for the actual tent) and it was still entirely stable through our stormy night. This tent was reasonably priced and worked well for our purposes. I bought this rather than last year's model just because it was a few dollars less but my impressions of this tent seem in line with the very positive reviews for last year's model.

5Camping in Irene
By monkeybizness
Don't ask me why, but we went camping and canoeing during Hurricane Irene in the Shenandoah River for the entire weekend. This tent was easy to set up (in the dark) and was sufficient in keeping the bugs out. Saturday night, there was heavy rain and winds 45-60ish mph; pretty scary when you add some thunder and sounds of falling branches. This tent was secure and kept my wife and I dry when our friends tents sprung leaks and suffered wet sleepingbag-itis. I think fitting 4 people in the tent is a bit too cozy and it serves 2 the best if you like some room for your guns and stuff. I recommend also the mallet and metal dowels with broom/dustpan that amazon offers in the buy together option. I think those heavy duty dowels and my heavy duty self helped my tent stay secured. bottom line: a tent well worth pitchin'

3Worked well the first short trip, but....
By T. Drenth
We purchased this tent for our adult children to sleep in during a family reunion. Everything was fine: Assembly was relatively simple and size was as expected. However, when we assembled the tent 3 weeks later, we found a tear at the seam connecting the floor material with the wall material. Thankfully, duct tape cures everything, but, really? After ONE USE? Disappointing...So here are my scores for this tent: (1-5 stars)Appearance: 4 stars because it was a little cheap lookingAssembly: 5 stars because it was assembled within 5 minutes by two adultsSize: 3 stars because despite the fact that Coleman calls this a 4 person tent, 4 adults could not sleep in this tent. Held one queen size air mattress with an area of about 3'x5' for your stuff.Durability: 1 star because the seam should not be split after two nights of use.
