Made of 68-denier polyester taffeta is lightweight, compact, free-standing and sleeps up to six. The two Dura Wrap fiberglass poles maximize headroom and space, make it easy to set up, and stand up to high winds. Color-coded-webbing attachment clips and grommet system aid in easy set up. No-See-Um mesh wall and ceiling panels can be covered with the fully seam-sealed, polyurethane-coated, waterproof rain fly. Fly front creates a spacious vestibule with I-style door. The 1,200mm rectangular floor keeps water out with its tough, tub-style design. D-shaped door is easy to get in and out of and securely closes with a durable zipper. Two interior mesh pockets and a gear loft for keeping things organized. Includes polyester taffeta carry bag. Imported.

New Zealand Tested - Yep, It's An Amazing Tent!!!

My wife and I spent months researching tents as we are both very experienced adventurers. We own a total of 5 quality tents and the Gunnison 4.1 is by far our most versatile with the best protection from the elements. We are firm believers that you get what you pay for. You will not regret buying this tent! It is quality technology all the way around with a fantastic weight to strength ratio. I am not a paid person that types up reviews for these things. Saw it on here while searching for a Kelty backpack and had to share my review due to its outstanding performance about 6 months ago.We bought the Gunnison 4.1 along with the matching footprint specifically for backpacking and exploring in New Zealand. It held up to everything the Mauri Gods could throw at it, including a Heavy Rainstorm/Flash Flood Advisory that we camped in on Mt. Tongariro. 18 hours of constant rain fell on this tent and we stayed remarkably dry. We even woke up the next morning to the tent standing in 2 inches of water and still not a single drop inside. It almost seemed as if the tent was floating on water. We were amazed and very glad that we made the decision on selecting this tent.The twin doors provided easy access for both of us to enter and exit without climbing over one another. The double vestibules were essential as we could both get out of our wet rain gear and boots without tracking water into the tent. Some may look at this tent and think that it's too heavy for just 2 person use. I however believe a little extra space is worth the additional weight of 1-2 lbs when compared with other lightweight tents. My wife and I enjoy the incredible amount of space we have in this bad boy and can both sit up comfortably in it with plenty of headroom. I'm 6'0 and she's 5'10 by the way. It should even accomodate us well once we have some little adventurers with us someday! :) Kelty did a great job engineering this tent and we will definitely be taking it with us this August on the Appalachian Trail in Maine.

well made tent

i bought this tent along with their 2 man version about a year ago from amazon. 1st, they shipped it quick. the price was very good, and it was an easy process. i have used this tent several times now, which is what i wanted to do before i gave a review. it has held up great. very easy to set up. it packs down small enough to easily carry on my bike when i tour. the main thing i wanted to add was we went to raystown lake in PA a few weeks ago for a week of fun and play on the lake. it rained 4 out of the 5 days we were there. i had it set up for 3 of those days for my nephew to use. it rained over 4 inches in 3 days. the tent never leaked a bit. he was as dry as can be. i also wanted to add, i never put one ounce of seam sealer on it. great tent. get one, you won't be disappointed.

Great Tent

I did a lot of research before buying this tent. I wanted a durable tent that was easy to set up and would keep me and my girlfriend dry. This tent is great. There is plenty of room inside and the tent compacts down pretty nicely- take out the poles and stuff it all in. This tent came with us for a six night trip to Glacier National Park. It hailed, rained, and sleeted, yet we were kept dry the whole time. The only negative I would have to say about it is that the rainfly has to be perfectly centered, otherwise it will not cover the whole tent and water may get in. I wish there were a couple extra inches on each side of the fly. We love the vestibules and the tent is very breezy in warm weather.

The Big Agnes Big House 6 is a family style 6 person dome tent with 1 door and the option to add a vestibule should you care too do so. It has ample mesh panels for ventilation and the fly covers all but the front door which has a Storm Flap so you know you will be dry. The shockcorded aluminum frame is strong and reliable and very simple to erect. The Big House can be used as a family tent or a base camping tent or even a canoe trip home. It is versatile and reliable, it's a Big Agnes. And if it gets really hot you can roll up the fly walls for better ventilation. There is a Welcome Mat built on so you can take off your muddy shoes before you go in. Big,Tall, and Dry

I purchased my BA Big House 6 from HumbleOutdoors for about $320,it came with a free footprint.This tent is very well made and cavernous compared to my previous tent. The queen air mattress fits in with plenty of space to spare. It did great in a sizable 20 hour rain period. This is the kind of tent that you keep for 20 seasons, so that slight extra cost was well worth it.

Roof pitch: Prevents water pooling on top of tent by guiding it down and way from the roof. Pole sleeves give tent fuller assemble shape to maximize room size. Exo-derm rain fly:. Fabric specially designed for CEC. Does not stretch or sag like nylon when wet - tent retains shape in heavy downpour. Weatherproof:  Coated with a Polyurethane film rated at 3000mm. Seam sealed to prevent water penetration. Storm flap: Channels water away from the tent. Dyna-strap webbing:  Bigger and stronger than conventional guy lines, fitted at peak of pole arc to provide maximum tension, help stabilize tent and maintain structure, especially in strong winds. Mesh vents:  top and opposite ends of tent allow for greater air circulation reducing internal condensation and regulating heat exchange while keeping out bugs and rain. Doors:  Full mesh fabric for air circulation with secondary weather proof full fabric doors for privacy. I combed through dozens of tents, and all the top manufacturers in the outdoor equipment world in search of a family tent for our future expeditions. Now there are many fine tents out there, but no matter what I'm shopping for, I'm always looking for that special item. The kind of item that just stands apart from its peers, be it a car, a sport coat, my wife, you name it. This tent immediately demanded my attention and its aesthetics were apparent, even though I was viewing it on a web page. I rolled the dice and pressed "buy", and I couldn't be happier with the result. More importantly, the Mrs. likes it too, as do the kids.Aesthetically, it appeals to my sensibilities as a former active duty marine. It's shaped like a Quonset hut, and is very expeditionary looking like a Royal Army style command tent. One of my gripes about all the other tents is that they all look the same for the most part. Our first expedition with this tent was Refugio State Beach in Santa Barbara. We set the tent up (we'll cover assembly in a moment) wiith the front hatch facing the beach unobstructed. The effect from inside was breathtaking. It was the best looking tent in the campground by a wide margin, and many a conversation was started over my fellow campers appraisal. If I had a few extra tents, I could have sold them them and there. It's the most handsome tent I've ever seen or owned. It's in a class by itself, and that is no overstatement.Assembly: ideally assembly could be accomplished as quickly as 20 minutes, though I tend to take longer, especially the first time. I'm in no hurry (as I was when I was in the service) as I want to ensure that it is done properly the first time. The tent is laid out flat and staked. You will want to purchase an additional set of stakes as the PVC stakes provided were the only component that I felt were than adequate. I use MSR groundhogs (here on Amazon as well), they are lightweight and deep penetrating and are ideal for camping or lightweight backpacking. After staking the tent, the PVC ribs are mated and slipped through the sleeves own the outside of the tent, terminating on either end in fabric sockets at the bottom. Easily done with 2 people. After that, there is only some additional cords to anchor, and and inner sleeve that goes inside the tent to make the double bedroom (a tent within a tent).Field testing: the materials are quality and sturdy, and very waterproof as well. It is spacious, 200 sq ft.+, and we could set up the mess table inside and even cook inside. it is equipped with covered ceiling vents that allow moisture to escape while not allowing precipitation (or bugs) in. It rained on one day of our week long stay, and we were dry as comfy inside, cooking and playing cards and running propane heaters. I understand CEC set up one of these in the winter and left it exposed for several months, with minimal deterioration and no snow intrusion. For heating and cooking I would recommend setting up propane tanks (blue rhinos for instance) and a distribution tree to fuel Mr Heaters and propane stoves. You will also be well advised to use an LED light set to string lights across the ceiling and mount the controller near one of the side hatches. I noted that two tents could be set side by side and an AstroTurf mat and canopy bewteen them could serve as a covered walkway if more space was desired.Tunnel tents are desirable in windy conditions. Normally the breeze flows from off shore, and is mild in Santa Barbara. However, one night at about 11pm, a strong gale from on shore out to sea suddenly struck. I would estimate it at 45 miles per hour, with stronger gusts. The tent behaved like an accordion (stake it down well) and did not budge. I was sleeping next to the rear wall and the wall would droop all the way until it touched my bag, and then spring back up when the wind subsided. The tent retained it shape, no ribs were snapped (they are hollow) and the tent performed better than expected. I was glad that this event occurred as now I can say we've experienced this and know what to expect.Pictures of interior are available online. It is bigger in reality than the pictures seem to convey. CEC has many other styles of tents in various sizes and I would definitely consider them first when searching for a family style tent. There were four of us (nuclear family) and we were not cramped at all. Well worth the money!I give it five stars.
