Really Nice Tent

I bought this tent last year after being disappointed that the Tahoe Gear Glacier was unavailable. I really enjoyed this tent although I have to say there were a couple of things that I wished the manufacturer could add/change. First, in the big main room, there are no windows to the back so the ventilation isn't the greatest. As the sun was getting higher it just kept getting hotter and hotter because there was no large window like the front and sides to get air moving in and out. Secondly, for a "12" person tent, there could have been a removable room divider for the main room so it could provide a little more privacy. Initially when I bought it, the description claimed that this tent was a three room tent and had a removable room divider for the main room but upon receiving the tent I didn't get anything. Even the layout picture of the tent showed some separation...So I contacted VM Innovations and they said that they would send one out to me right away but it never showed up and then when I contacted them again they said that they would find out what happened but nothing else was done and then later I went back to look at their description of the tent and they took out the part of having a removable room divider for the main room. Disappointing...On the other hand, a couple cool things that I really liked about this tent were that it really is big and spacious. Setup wasn't difficult at all. I was able to have my 10 year old brother help me. It took the longest the first time just figuring out which poles go where but otherwise, the following times setting up was a breeze. The most difficult part I'd have to say about setting up the tent would have to be putting on the rain fly. I'm 5'2" and that was hard but I finally got it. The smaller room to the side has a zippered door separating it from the main room so that there is complete privacy should it be needed. Also, with each room having its own door it was nice so that if people were leaving, no one would be bothering people in the other room. I had my kids sleep in the smaller room and just twist-tied their door closed from the inside for safety so that no one could open from the outside or they couldn't leave through their door. I left this tent out for almost a week in which it stood and held up under the beating sun and heavy rain with no leaks. The only thing I noticed was that upon taking this tent down, which was a breeze by the way, the poles were slightly bent or curved at the ends where they connected with each other. I don't know if this is normal wear and tear or not but I used it two more times camping and they were fine. I just kind of worried if they were going to start cracking and breaking soon.Overall, I think this is a pretty nice tent. Even with our queen sized air bed at one end of the tent we still had A LOT of space at the other end to stash all of our bags and stuff. I think it would've made a nice "living room" for us had there been a room divider. But, still happy with the tent, although I think I'm still gonna buy the Glacier though just because I had my heart set on it and will try it out. We've got a big family so the other guys can use this one while I try out the Glacier! :D

roomy but disappointing

We set up the tent in the yard to practice before our Memorial Day trip. I will do this in sections to make it easier to form your own opinion. Set up: The directions were clear and easy to follow. On our first set up though, one of the stake loops pulled off near the "main" door. Although disappointed with this, we considered keeping the tent and fixing it ourselves, but once all stakes were in and all guy lines tied, there was so much slack on the walls of the tent that all we could think of was getting waterlogged in the first rain. I wish they had more places to stake the tent, as this would have solved our concerns and made it a keeper. Also, the fly was difficult to get on once the tent was up. I would almost suggest positioning the fly on top of the tent before you raise the poles just to make things a little easier. I am 5 foot 2, and I really struggled to be of any help to my husband on this part. The instructions say to stake once set up, but because of the caterpillar design, it kept falling over on itself, and I wonder if it should be staked first.Tent features: This tent was roomy and amazing. I felt like I could have lived in it all summer, and I wish I could have. The windows were numerous and large, and I liked the 3 rooms, and being able to have one just for my daughter. There was plenty of space for 3 -4 queen air mattresses, plus the side room. The material was good and the open ceiling promised many starry nights. It has a sturdy flooring material with the tub bottom, and my 110 lb lab- rott mix would have had plenty of space too and wouldn't have hurt the floor. Again I think more stake points would be helpful. We are all season campers, and I have to think this one would struggle in wind too since the walls are so large and flat rather than sloped.Overall while we did not weather test it, we have camped long enough to know we would have gotten wet. I have read another persons feedback and he said it held up fine in rain, which makes me wonder if mine had a manufacturing defect resulting in the loose walls and stake loops breaking already. Anyway, at this cost I didn't want to chance it, but I look forward to reading other people's reviews and experience. Lastly, the seller was awesome, and I would gladly buy their products in the future. They were quick to deliver(a day and a half after ordering), quick to respond to my concerns, willing to work with me to make this a happy sale and offering a discount, and finally, willing to let me return the whole shebang. Easy to set up

This tent has to be the easiest to set up. It is large and a 6 ft man can stand up in the tent. It rained when we were camping and there were no leaks. Would definitely recommend this. The stakes are wimpy so re replaced them, but on the whole it is a good buy.
