The Coleman Elite Evanston 8 Tent is perfect for scout troops, family reunions, and other group camping adventures. From the built-in lighting system, to the hinged door and Auto-Roll window design, to Coleman's WeatherTec system guaranteed to keep out wind and rain, the Coleman Elite Evanston 8 Tent is packed with features for comfort and convenience at the campsite. The tent sleeps 8 people comfortably, with a footprint of 12'x12' and a center height of 6'2". The hinged door swings open and closed; it includes a rigid pole frame support structure that is easy to install and take down. An overlapping door flap helps keep out insects when closed. The integrated LED lighting system provides a bright, useful light -- enough to read by at night -- with 3 settings (High, Low, and Nightlight). Coleman's Comfort System allows control of airflow with vented Cool-Air Port/Cooler Port, privacy vent window, interior gear pocket and electrical access port. Color-coded 11mm, 7.9mm, and 6.3mm fiberglass poles, continuous pole sleeves plus InstaClip attachments and an exclusive pin-and-ring design assure quick and easy setup even for beginners. Coleman's new Auto-Roll Window lets you instantly roll windows up, partially up to your liking, or all the way down, to suit your privacy or ventilation preference. "Negative-angle" windows allow the window to be partially or fully open during a mild rain: a primary structural pole creates an overhang to protect the window and provide ventilation and viewing during an afternoon shower or gentle nighttime rain.

This is our third Coleman tent. We knew exactly what we were getting, and were not disappointed. Since we had a larger tent, we wanted something that would fit the campground sites a little better. The directions on this tent were not good, and the diagrams are pitiful, but we already knew how to put it together. For one thing, you should stake the floor before you put up the tent poles. Also, don't put the gray door pole in until the black poles are settled in their pins. We were very impressed with the "awning" as it provides a place to sit out of the sun, and keeps the rain out of the tent. We had rainy, windy weather and no leaks. But the best part is the hinged door. If you have tried to unzip a tent door when you are carrying a child or dog, or even a flashlight, then you can understand the advantage of just pulling on the handle. The "ceiling light" is also a great addition, although our remote didn't work. We probably would have lost it anyway.

I recently purchased the Coleman Evanston 8 tent for my husbands birthday. Thankfully we decided to take a practice run at setting up the tent before we actually took it camping. I could find nothing but negative things to say about this tent (besides the color!) so I will list them here:1. Setup is not easy, and couldn't be done with one person. The instructions and tent pole colors were contradictory.2. Cheap materials. The mesh netting at the top of the tent was so thin I felt like I would have been able to rip it with a fingernail.3. Cheap materials again! The poles are unbelievably flimsy, and the nylon on the tent is cheap and thin. The FIRST time sliding the poles through at the top it snagged twice and easily ripped. We weren't being forceful, and have had our previous tent for over 10 years without any tears.Overall I was very disappointed with this, and have sent mine back. I would never again buy a Coleman tent because the quality has so obviously declined. It's sad that such a staple brand in the camping world can't be trusted to sell a decent product anymore.

I purchased this tent on sale for $150. I thought I was getting a good deal. It arrived and I made the mistake of not setting it up right away to see it. I took it on my first trip and the inside light, front overhang, and space inside was ok. Then I got to putting up the back of the tent and let me tell you that is where it all went downhill.Let me say I have owned quite a few tents in the past, I have mostly been able to use tents without a fly. I could not use this tent without the fly attached. The back poles do not have enough support and are REALLY flimsy. The poles kept bending sideways and causing the back of the tent to collapse in on itself. I had to attach the fly and velcro it on with the supplied points. The tent still fell in on itself until I pulled so hard on the fly straps and anchored it into the ground; I thought I was going to rip the string right off the fly doing it just to get it to stop collapsing. I am disappointed; you would think a product from Coleman with the Elite title would be top notch.
